Just wondering, did the PRSL units ever leave their home rails to travel over the PRR or Penn Central during those eras?

I think I remember seeing them on Atlantic City trains to and from 30th St., but that was awhile back ...

P-RSL GP38's were used to pull SEPTA MU cars on the ex-Reading side during the Wayne Junction rotary power converter failure in the late 70's. While there was enough power for lighting and HVAC on the cars, the diesels had to provide motive power.
