I was driving through Hoosick Falls NY yesterday and was surprised to see a
Norfolk Southern loco parked south of NY 22 in the village.
I pulled over to see if it would cross the street, but it did not.

The train seemed to be cars carrying automobiles which struck me
as unusual.

I did some research today and see that the line was former Boston and Maine
and that there is some activity.

I found this map.

If the train was eastbound, you saw NS 28N. The westbound counterpart (empties) is 287. This is a joint operation between Norfolk Southern and Pan Am. NS 28N is Fostoria, OH to Ayer, MA. NS 287 is Ayer to Toledo. Both trains run daily.
