What is the metal beam "bridge" extending from the roundhouse into the yard on the B&M at East Deerfield? It does not seem to be crane related. Thanks.

From Alden Dreyer, who used to work on the Fitchburg Division, by way of my friend Chris Coyle:

"I think you are correct and it is piping to heat the diesel house generated by the steam boiler in the roundhouse. I can ask the guys at lunch next month who recently retired from the diesel shop. We meet the first Tuesday of the month, so your question is 48 hours too late for this month."

Will keep you posted.
