I recently went to Berea to do a little railfanning and I could not believe how many people were out railfanning in sub zero temperatures. That is some awesome passion for the hobby!

It is a hot spot with parallel mainlines, open parking, and a good restaurant in the old station.

Normal train tally is 80+/day, evenly split between CSX and NS plus 4 Amtrak at night (Lake Shore and Capitol Limiteds) if they are on time. Also, an occasional W&LE crossing from CSX to NS. On busiest days, train count exceeds 100.

Only problem has been people wandering onto the tracks. Current cost of a ticket for trespassing is $350 + 85 court costs, so I'm told.

The restaurant is very good and moderately priced. We had a Sunday Brunch there for 200 people as part of the 2014 NYCSHS convention. More recently, the NOARS group had a dinner meeting on the 8th.
