A few years ago, I read the great composer George Gershwin's biography. There are a few references to him and Ira taking the train to Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Cleveland and Chicago. They didn't mention which railroad these were on but one passage was he rushed to GCT for the Chicago trip. I can only imagine it was the Century. Must have been cool to see him puffing on his cigar in the observation car and playing the piano if there was one on board.
