Derailment Northampton County

Train derailment near mount bethel, pa. Six cars w sand derail. Engine still on tracks.
First reports in around 4:35 pm est today.
Off to try and report it.

It is a Deleware Lackawanna taking cars north to Scranton.
I understand NS takes them south from Scranton.

Sounds like it was probably in the Slateford Yard just north of Portland, where NS interchanges with DL. I doubt they would be taking them up to Scranton just to hand them back over to NS (or CP) again in Scranton at the other DL interchange point though, but who knows. JS

This interests me since I worked in the area, (G tower, Belvidere,) years ago. Sorry to see that covered hopper on its side.
