ALCO (American Locomotive Company) model C-424 was built in March 1964 as construction number 3372-06. This engine has a 16-cylinder 251C engine producing 2400 horsepower. Originally built as National Railways of Mexico 8105 (1st) under a lease-purchase contract, it was instead diverted to the Wabash as their B905. The engine became Norfolk & Western 3905 (2nd) in October 1964 when the railroads merged. In April 1970 the locomotive was renumbered 425. It was retired in November 1977, and then went to Surface Transportation International. In September 1978, it was sold to the Associated Electric Co-op and was assigned to their Thomas Hill, Missouri, power plant. After retirement, it was acquired by Ed Bowers and was moved to our museum in August 2002 for restoration and use on our trains.
