Seems like you'll be able to use your PATCO's freedom card to use on SEPTA and possibly SEPTA's cards on PATCO in the future

The Delaware River Port Authority awarded a contract Wednesday to allow its PATCO Hi-Speedline passengers to transfer more easily to SEPTA transit in Philadelphia as early as next year.

Cubic Corp. of San Diego, PATCO's current fare collection system, won the $1.7 million contract for a software upgrade to revamp the proprietary fare system to let speedline riders use their Freedom Card on the SEPTA system of rail and buses instead of having to buy separate SEPTA fare passes from PATCO ticket machines.

In the more distant future, Rink said, a PATCO passenger will be able to use any credit card with microchip technology to buy a SEPTA ticket and may even be able to use a cellphone as a ticket payment device by holding it up to a reader. And SEPTA customers might also be able to use their cards on the PATCO system, Rink said.

When DRPA introduced FREEDOM in (November) 2007, the card media was planned to work on SEPTA, NJT and other regional agencies shortly.

Finally 8 1/2 years.

I meant the length of time required to get it done; actually I was thinking of Warminster, and I can't remember now which one took longer. (2007-2016++ for the fare arrangement vs. ?)
