The photo caption says 223 is in Canadian Pacific's Kenwood Yard, why is it there? Shouldn't it have been a straight shot from GE-Erie to Albany by CSX without involving CP?

I know that they are while pulling wasn't sure about while in push mode
There's a whole topic about push pull. Do open your eyes.

CSX does not service the Erie plant, so its exchanged from D&H a CP company to CSX in kenwood yard.

no, as no one is in cab where alerter is, the cab cars do have deadman pedals.

I wonder if Amtrak could haul an engine to Erie being how the lake shore limited has a stop there
Or is cp or csx qualified to move the engines to-from rebuilt
Wonder if 225 will get first priority or the other 3

no Amtrak can not move engine and switch a freight siding.

Heard that the 223 was back in the West Yard at Croton. Couldn't see it because of the dense fog.

That's good that 223 didn't get lost coming back

When are these locomotives do for replacement?

Yeah, because MN engines coming back from rebuild wander loose and end up in Kansas all the time...

CSX Selkirk has a bad habit of mis-routing cars the wrong way at times,as a few MBTA Rotem cars have
been sent too far west, from the "Black Hole".

they just finished a mid life overhaul, MN is hiring people to design or check out a new dual mode locomotive, but it may be over 10 years before we see any new power.
one potential candidate would be MPI's HSP46a in dual mode version.

Dont doubt the idiocy of Selkirk. One of MBTAs MCs coming back from Altoona after its Top Deck overhaul ended up in Chicago before being turned back east. A trip to Kansas woudnt be a stretch.
