Does anyone know where I could find a list of operational Steamers that would have been around the Detroit Area via 1993?

Any excursions around August 3rd through August 17th. Maybe with a 10 car consist of Gray painted passenger cars, all windows broken, headed southbound on the then Chessie/CSX Toldeo Sub. Possibily a 4-8-4, definately had road boards around the front smokebox.

What does "road boards around the front smokebox" mean? Do you mean number boards, or smoke deflectors? Was the engine under steam?

But I think I know what it was. Grand Trunk Western 4-8-4 6325 was stored in Battle Creek, Michigan but was moved in September 1993 to the Ohio Central Railroad in Coshocton, Ohio to be restored. Part of the move must have been over CSX south of Detroit, and maybe some old passenger equipment came with the locomotive. But it would have to have been pulled by another locomotive since it wasn't restored to operation till July, 2001. See http://www.ocsteam.com/6325/index.html .
