I got a notification of a meeting at NJDOT Headquarters in Trenton on August 7. Its about the New Jersey State Rail Plan Update for Fiscal Year 2007. The meeting is to solicit public comment about the updates. The NJDOT is requesting funding from the Transportation Trust Fund and the FHWA for the following eligible project on the NYS&W;
1. Access Road to Sparta Salt Unloading Facility, $660,000. Construction of a 3,000 ft. siding and two new turnouts to an unloading pit. Highway road salt unloading for local municipalities.
2. Jersey City Access Track to 100 acre Site, $1,115,004. Construct 2,170 feet of track from NYS&W's Marion Yard into 100 acre site just south of Secaucus Rd. and to construct 4,000 ft of track on site itself. Five new turnouts included.
3. Marion Yard Siding, $551,760. consturct 3,168 ft. siding and two new turnouts at Marion Yard to new area rail businesses. Carload increase anticipated of 1,800 carloads anticipated.
4. Various Sidings in North Bergen, $904,860 Construct 5 new turnouts and 6,200 ft of track sidings.
