I was at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel on September 26-30, 2012, during AAPRCO's 35th annual convention. While walking between the AAPRCO Chattanooga Limited special train parked on the hotel track and the events in the hotel, I noticed a number (half a dozen?) of the lightweight passenger cars "permanently" parked at the hotel and converted to lodging accommodations appear to be former New York Central chair cars (coaches).

However, I was uncertain from which series of cars they descended. At first I thought these are the cars from the NYC 3000-3152 series of 64 seat coaches built by Pullman Standard in 1946 that were later rebuilt to 108 seat commuter coaches, with the stainless steel siding removed, and renumbered in the NYC 1715-1739 series, again later renumbered to the NYC 2115-2139 series, possibly even further renumbered for Penn Central and MTA service. However, maybe they are from the 56 seat coaches (NYC 2600-2644) built by Pullman Standard in 1941, or the 56 seat coaches (NYC 2645-2670) built by ACF in 1941-1942, or the 56 seat coaches (NYC 2671-2694) built by Pressed Steel Car Company in 1942. When you look closely at these cars with the light at a certain angle, you can see remnants of Penn Central decals and car numbers under layers of paint. They did look like coaches I saw in MTA/PC commuter service in the 1970s. I also noticed two Budd stainless steel cars, which appeared to be former NYC grill diners.

Unfortunately, I did not take any photos of any of these Chattanooga Choo Choo cars, as that was not my priority at the time I was there at the hotel. However, I did find these photos of the Budd built dining cars:

Do any of you have knowledge of these former NYC cars at Chattanooga?
