I know that with the exception of a good amount of the IND, many of the signals in the NY Subway system have been replaced in the past 70 years. But what age are the current signals on the IRT and BMT?

Probably 70 years max. The oldest signals were on the 42nd street Shuttle line, and were replaced in 2021. That line existed since 1904, and I forget how hold those were when they got replaced when MTA upgraded it.

The 7 Line had original signals to 1917 (express track added in 1939) when replaced by CBTC (though rewired in 1956).

The IND lines are now undergoing CBTC conversion at this time (Queens Blvd completed, 8th Avenue in 2025, Crosstown also under way, 6th Avenue to begin when 8th Avenue is completed), as much of the 1930s signals were not replaced.

Much of the mainline IRT was overhauled in the 1980s and being recent, are not a priority in the CBTC program.
