this is the proposed RT in ULSTER county not the existing Catskill Scenic Trail in DELAWARE county

south side of the Ashokan reservoir
I had gotten an action alert last month from the Fats In The Cats mtn bike club,in regards to the below
Ulster county owns the Ulster & Delaware ROW/rail corridor and leases it to the Catskill Mtn. RR - this is the scenic tourist RR operating on an 8 mile section from the RR museum in Phoenicia - it seems the RR has not maintained the rest of the ROW as per an agreement with Ulster county and now the county wants to turn the inactive part of the corridor into a RT and the CMRR would still be able to operate trains - in the active portion of the line would be a rail-with-trail

that FITC alert also mentioned trail network(s) in Ulster county - the Maybrook line in Ulster county and Dutchess county is now just 900 feet away from being the Maybrook Line Trailway System (see my recent Dutchess RT post)
there was a recent Rails To Trails Conservancy blog article about the trail networks being formed in this area of NY - seems this concept might be something unique among RTs
