Does anyone know of any plans for the Totowa spur? I know the old line from Pequannock down was abandoned and converted to a rail trail. Access only looks to be from the NJ Transit line, but I work in Wayne and saw a utility tamper parked just after the Mountainview Station site (between Alps Rd Ramp and Mountainview Boulevard). Would this be a good sign that the line is being maintained/upgraded? Can’t really make out any active customers on the line aside from Tilcon in Totowa. I’ll occasionally see an active train once or twice a year.

Wouldn't this just be work equipment for the main line parked on a spur to keep it out of the way?

Isn't Royal Foods in Totowa still served by DD?

I managed to talk to one of the workers who didn’t really seem to know much. They were adding a pedestrian crossing for the rail trail from Pequannock. He said the line was still being utilized as far as he knew but didn’t know anything further.

Its used a few times per week. The Dover and Delaware operates it under lease from NS.

As was stated, this week a new pedestrian crossing for the Pompton Valley Rail Trail is being installed. The tamper and possibly a track alignment machine were there to perform work. It should be done by the end of this week.
