Earlier than usual 501 hit the DED at Chester on Amtrak and had to
stop the train and walk it.Nothing found and CETC-4 gave the 501
permission to continue North to PHIL.By me at Prospect Park Sta.

WOW! We have our selves a NEW "Slab Train" traversing the Corridor from PHIL to Edgemoor.I don't know where it originates from yet,but the YM at Edgemoor told me that it's going to be a once-a-week Slab train that will be cut into 20 car cuts for Citi-Steel in Claymont,DE. I caught the "Maiden Run" of the new NS-68E.
Needless to say tonight was a very active night(should say Hour)at Prospect Park Sta. on the NEC!

Hi Bri, thanks for the updates. Its interesting about the slab train with citi-steel because everyday when I go by it on my trains, I see loads of cars out in the yard and sometimes I see 2 diesels working as well. It looks like they are quite busy despite this recession.

Then you be my eyes Budd down at that end.
Obviously the nocturnal H-5N will bring up the Slabs in 20 car cuts and place them inside Citi-Steel.
I'm also thinking that the Mty Gons won't go back as a unit train(69E?)but instead will go back piece-meal to Enola/Conway on the 37A.
I for one was THRILLED to have not only caught a Slab train on Amtrak! But it was the inaugural run of it! Hopefully next Sunday another one will run?

Thank you for the information. Not too many people follow freight traffic between Philadelphia and Marcus Hook, or at least it seems. :-) I do have a few questions which I hope can be answered. Does this slab train run every Sunday? Where does it come from? What does it mean for Claymont Steel? Did they shut down their electric furnace?
 #636209  by Big Bri

All answers are "I Don't Know.....YET!"
But I'm sure I'll find out soon enough by inquiring to my "peeps."
As per the Electric Furnace at Citi-steel,you may want to call.....IF they'll answer you.Citi-steel is a very secure instillation
and I doubt they'll readily give you info.

I'm hoping that the Slab train is every Sunday. And DAYLIGHT for once!!
