This is not and April's fools joke,, the city of Elkhart, Indiana, where ex NYC steam locomotive 3001 is located a 4-8-2 at the New York Central museum in Elkhart, has
made a deal and a transfer of ownership to the Fort Wayne historical society the group that runs and maintains Nickel Plate Steam locomotive # 765, to fully restore to operating condition, this L-3 class locomotive..
This will be The Only NYC locomotive in operation once restored,, for more information go to this website,,https://www.americanloco.org.
One of this class locomotive did also run out of South Station in Boston, Mass before it was retired in 1951, the locomotive was class L3a number 3004 when it took train called the Wolverine which was a 13 car passenger train on its run.. that was the last of Steam on the Boston & Albany RR..
