Hello all, I've noticed that SEPTA is currently in the process of procuring a new diesel switcher locomotive from the Knoxville Locomotive Works. As far as I can tell, this new locomotive meets EPA tier 4 standards and is not a genset like 70, it appears to be similar to 80 in design albeit a whole lot uglier. My guess is that SEPTA will test this locomotive and will order more like it to replace the ageing ex-MILW EMD switchers and the 2 notoriously unreliable custom built RL1as.

What are your thoughts? I've linked some screenshots of it below as well as a JWDS screenshot.

Looks like a serviceable locomotive.

It's coming, it should be on the property tomorrow (Friday). Then begins the long looooong process of testing it and getting guys qualified.

Five of these things coming. Replacing everything except the 80.

Update: NS took it to Pavonia. Whoops. Try again later.

I caught it coming back west on 39G today, after it accidentally went to Pavonia on 38G. Not quite sure how they managed to **** that up but whatever.

It would appear that it has HEP capability, unless it is for pass-through only...
We will find out someday.

Coming in Saturday morning on 38G, SEPTA should pick it up on Sunday morning if i had to take a gander.

Hopefully this time they don't mess up and take it to Camden, again.
