What post is it? I haven't seen anything on Facebook so far. As for the comment about the DOT's grade regrading west of Whitefield, from what I can see on google maps, it doesn't look like it would be too hard to fix. Assuming the material they backfilled that area with is gravel of some sort with a few inches of loam, it wouldn't be too hard to rebuild the ROW through there.

This is the Facebook link.

As for the section that was removed in Dalton, I was told it was done to improve drainage.

I'm hiring, one can ease their speculative mind if they want to be boots on the ground and they have some spare time. Trackmen, C&E, signalmen. I've got spots available on the NHC and NEGS FT and PT.

For those of us that are not on Facebook, could the information/update be shared that was posted there? Its nice to read some of these updates that are occuring up there from a distance- thank you!

A 1991 Alan Thomas photo was shared of NHVT 405 crossing east into Whitefield to which a poster commented that they wished to see action downtown again.

A reply was made to that comment of "you will", and that things are in the works. The same person wrote the post above yours about hiring on at NHCR or NEGS.

Thank you for that information and follow up, much appreciated. I have family in Whitefield and that's where the interest started. We will sit back and see what unfolds!

Paving occuring as I passed through town today. VRS truck parked next to the crossing on Route 116 towards Jefferson. This was just after 7.

Upon reading further into this, it seems like VRS is getting their ducks in a row here. The assumption was that VRS’s (Merrimack and Grafton) takeover of the line effectively served to terminate NHCR’s service on the line but just to be sure they’re filing this anyways so NHCR’s name is out of it.

For a moment I thought they were getting rid of the final stub of the North Stratford line and got pretty confused for a while.

Stopped by Hazens this morning on the way to a side job. Stacks of ties on both sides of the crossing.

Trail supporters are going to be pi$$ed. Up until a few months ago they had this grand vision for a rail trail to extend from Woodsville to Berlin and St. Johnsbury to Whitefield. meetings were already underway with individual towns but had not reached state level support yet. I have to assume none of the local towns have the financial resources to challenge any reactivation.
I must admit I was kind of excited to see Quebec Junction to Waumbek Junction reactivated and who knows, maybe that will happen since Waumbek, Quebec & Hazen's still allows rail access, while also satisfying the desire of those wishing to connect the Presidential Rail-trail and the Ammonoosuc Rail Trail. If that happens, it will first have to be approved by the STB, but I don't see them having an issue if things develop in that direction.

I apologize..I am not following.....looking at the Open Railways map, I see the Presidential Rail Trail is between Quebec Junction and Waumbek Junction. Are you saying that VTR is going to re-lay tracks between them?

Also, another rookie question, does anything travel north up the Berlin Main Line from Hazens? Again, just sparked by looking at Open Railways.

A year and half ago, maybe two years ago, I happen to be at the right place at the right time and stumbled across a meeting at the trailhead parking lot on Airport RD for the Presidential Rail Trail. They were wearing business causal clothing and there was a lot of directional pointing going on and paperwork laid out on the hood of one car, I decided to "polish my bike" to listen in, they were talking about relaying track between Waumbek Junction to Quebec Junction, so the trail could be extended into downtown Whitefield. Later, when asked, the Conway Scenic neither confirmed nor denied the rumor, but fast forward to today and I hear the Quebec Junction wye is fully in service now, so my question is why?

Maybe that's just having to do with the shiney streamliner sitting in Conway?
