Hi all,

I'm doing an article on the Metro-North fleet of 1100-series ACMU's. From what I understand, these cars are 1956 vintage single car MU's that were part of a Pullman-Standard order, originally numbered 4500's on the NYC.

I know we discussed it on the old board, but if someone could please provide details about the ACMU order, builders, dates, renumbering... or at least show me where I could get the info, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

The air conditioned MU cars on the New York Central are as follows:

NYC 4500-4599 (PC 1000-1099), Lot No. 2207, Built by St. Louis Car, 1950-1951, St. Louis Order No. 1756, NYC Spec. No. 1601-A, Supplement No. 1.

NYC 4600-4625 (PC 1100-1125), Lot No. 2255, Built By Pullman-Standard, 1962, P-S Order No.7011, New York Port Authority Specification.

NYC 4700-4726 (PC 1126-1152), Lot No. 2256, Built by Pullman-Standard, 1962, P-S Order No. 7011, Port Auth. Spece.

NYC 4750-4783 (PC 1153-1186), Lot No. 2260, Built by Pullman-Standard, 1965, P-S Order No. 7031, Port Auth. Specs. These cars differed from the two previous lots in the the longitudinal center line of the side windows was four (4) inches lower based on passenger comments.

Thank you very much for the detailed information.

The 1100's will most likely run their last miles for Metro-North this summer. Stay tuned.

Otto,

In case you have an interest in color the NYC 4500, 4600 and 4700 MU cars were painted with DuPont Green not Pullman Green.
