Newsday has an article discussing the concerns of many Long Island legislators that the MTA is still playing games with the budget. They want an independent audit of the cash flow and investment decision.

The NY Times reported today that the threatened service cuts, reduced investment in the subways are designed to force the city to reconsider placing tolls on the East River bridges, most of which are currently free. The Brooklyn and Queens council members and state legislators have killed all previous attempts.
The interesting part, to me, at least, is the MTA / LIRR / MetroNorth capital budgets have minimal state contributions beyond the sales tax increment. Yet, the city and state are spending $300mn to repair the Willie B alone
