Note: Under-running third rail. I suppose it was electric due to ventilation issues in tunnel.

Does anyone have a picture of the sort of loco that would have been in this tunnel?

Also any operational information about the tunnel operation would be appreciated. Particularly with respect to changing locomotives at each end.

IIRC, asked and answered some time ago on the New York Central Forum.

Also, the NYCS Historical Society has done articles on the Detroit River Tunnel operations in the "Central Headlight".

Trains Magazine has also done a feature on that operation.
