My wife just turned on channel 2 and there was a Metra Electric train shooting off sparks in a bad way in a cell phone video. The anchor described it as an explosion. They reported that 60 people were trapped on the train and that there were no injuries.

Metra Electric trains were suspended overnight after an explosion near a stop in Hyde Park.

Around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, electrical problems with overhead wires caused an explosion.

Firefighters had to remove passengers from nearby trains.

All trains on Metra Electric Line’s South Chicago branch were suspended until around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
