Some math = 40 miles / .667 hours = 60 mph.
I suggest Acela already achieves speeds faster than that. :)

Why add logical arguments to a discussion of Maglev from Washington to Baltimore? That just muddies the water.

I think that this proposed BAL - DC maglev line is intended to be a "demo" line, to show off the technology and to demonstrate building it in the US. It would be a demo for the proposed NYC - DC maglev line.

But it will be awfully expensive, and it may be hard to convince the politicians that it's worth spending on.
