On the 5:27 (harlem) outbound on Friday the 23 . As we blew past the
Mt. Pleasant stop we got an auto.anouncement that the next stop was Mt. Pleasant.

It's a fairly common occurance.

The automated announcements usually rely on the crew punching in the right train number/designation, and then announce when the train nears the stops for that designation. It's possible (and happens on NJT quite a bit) that the crew punched in the wrong number, or had the schedule changed for a particular number without updating the record; the computer only knows what it's told.

On the MNRR M7's inputting the train number has no effect on the route/announcements.
There is only 4 route choices
GCT to Croton Harmon
Croton Harmon to GCT
GCT to Southeast
Southeast to GCT

When you chose a route it selects all stops along that route.
You then have to manually select to skip the stops that particular train does not make.
so much for the high tech equipment.
