If you are refering to the Jamuna river, that one has been bridged with a combined road/railway brigde by Japanese some years ago. Interesting details: it is dual gauge track both narrow gauge and Indian broad gauge, it has also been built to light, so broad gauge locomotives working in multiple units are not allowed.

Wow , that must be quite a bridge , as i remember a fairly long ferry ride across the river .
