I don't see this ending well for anyone. Union finally says enough and walks out. Transit finally relents a week later and pays up.

Citizens get pissed off at union for screwing up their commute for a week, get pissed off at NJT management and the politicians for big fare increase. Citizens decide to drive, making roads a bigger mess and expense to DOT. NJT wants to cut service due to drop in ridership (gee I wonder why).

Rinse and repeat cycle.

Strike wouldn't last a week. NJT will drag its feet until it can't anymore to make the coalition look greedy. Coalition will get contract, Conductors will get the brunt of the passenger backlash because they're the most visible of the crafts involved.
