And my last topic on the Lehigh & New England (for now)...
The Louisville & Nashville was the largest purchaser of former Lehigh & New England locomotives. I have heard that the FA's (and FB's) did not last very long on the L&N before they were traded in during the early/mid 1960s, but does anyone know how long the RS2s and S2s lasted before they were scrapped? Also, why did the Lehigh & New England repaint these locomotives into the "cigar band" paint scheme before shipping them south, instead of painting them in L&N colors. Finally, does anyone know if the former L&NE locomotives were ever painted to the L&N's grey and yellow paint scheme before they were traded in...
Thanks...
