As a youngster I lived in Hawthorne on Lafayette Ave., and on my way to school during 1944 I would pass the North Hawthorne Shops and saw L&NE 2-10-0's resting outside the shops. As this was during the war years I assume they were interchanged to haul heavy freights on the NYSW. After the war ended I never saw these locomotives again. Anyone else remember these engines ?
