Long Island Rail Road customers are being advised to expect delays and cancellations on nearly all branches after a NY & Atlantic Railway freight train derailed at Jamaica Station.
With the exception of the Port Washington branch, all lines on the LIRR are experiencing service delays, according to the MTA website.
A LIRR spokesman said a NY & Atlantic Railway was moving west into Jamaica station when the last three cars derailed just east of the station.
The derailed train is blocking one track, but seven others remain clear. LIRR trains will be running on those tracks, but customers should expect delays, spokesman Salvatore Arena said.
NY & Atlantic Railway uses LIRR-owned tracks to deliver commodities through Long Island, according to its parent company's website.

From what it sounds like, RS41 was going through Jamaica on track 11 for Fresh Pond when 3 of the 7 cars derailed.

As of this morning, 6:30am, the 3 affected cars remain at the scene, although per the LIRR email alerts they have been rerailed and yard access restored.
Coming home on the LIRR around 7:20 PM on Saturday night at Jamaica, saw a LIRR maintenance crew replacing track in this area with a hi-rail crane and other equipment.
