I'm guessing Mr. Hastings goes by the handle CN9634 around here. All I know is that my screen name is same as on my Birth Certificate, Passport, Driver's License, and Will.

But be all that as it may, I'm pleased to learn that NB is not devoid of industry with product exported to the US.

Presumably Chessie is placing her bets that even with her Class 2 and jointed rail, as she gets the MEC up to Class 3, more "Fancy Feast" from these shippers will come her way.
When the day comes she can address the clearances, which I've learned from these discussions are also on the B&M as well, what Container traffic comes her way, will just be "gravy" atop her "FF".

Again, we're looking at a strike on the east and gulf coasts. I think this one has the potential to last a little longer than the last one. I also have reason to believe it should be over by Feb. 1.

"Beginning in February 2025, DP World will introduce several new container services at its terminals at the Port of Vancouver, Port of Prince Rupert and Port Saint John.

The agreement with the new Gemini Cooperation between Maersk A/S and Hapag-Lloyd AG will allow DP World to present additional options for cargo loading and discharge in Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Saint John. By leveraging its network of terminals across Canada, DP World can provide enhanced resilience in the event of disruption.

This collaboration will strengthen trade connections between Asia, Europe, and North America. Vancouver and Prince Rupert will handle key shipping services to and from Asia, while Saint John will manage services connecting to Northern Europe.

It looks like the Americold cold storage warehouse is almost a done deal at the port. They are likely going to build at the southern tip of the west side docks, beside the existing NBSR tracks. The impact assessment was completed on Jan. 6, and a report was sent by email last night that summed it up stating:

"Therefore, the Saint John Port Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part."

DP World and Americold are worldwide partners in promoting these kinds of facilities for their managed ports.

CPKC is also working with Americold to build a similar, but larger facility at Kansas City.

I guess all the objections have been flushed out and answered and it's a matter of figuring out what everybody's share is in the project. The total investment discussed was originally estimated to be in the $100M range, but there was no mention in the report of a specific amount.
