OK, that press release located by Mr. RailandShip, clears up a lot of issues.
The photo of those cranes was not at Saint John, but rather at another DP World facility. That they presently are in Maersk livery does not mean that Maersk will call anytime soon at Saint John.
And finally, when the cranes are readied for use at Saint John, they will be reliveried.
Mr. Norman,
The picture is the current location of the two Maersk cranes. It is not a DP World facility. I think it's at Norfolk, VA. I don't think it's a Maersk (APM) terminal either. They are going to be delivered to Saint John approximately November 2024. They will need to be recommissioned to be ready for use in early 2025.
I did say that Maersk does not currently call at Saint John. I expect that to change as of February 2025.
In February 2025, Hapag Lloyd and Maersk are going to be combining their fleets and routes (while maintaining their separate corporate identities). At that time, I, and many others, are assuming that Maersk ships will begin calling at Saint John as part of the Hapag/Maersk partnership name of Gemini Cooperation.
These 2 additional cranes (combined with the completion of the terminal surfacing) will increase the Saint John intermodal capacity to 800K TEU/year. The surfacing operation continues, but it is mostly done at this point. Even so, it may take another year or more to fully cure the new surface for heavier loading.
