If you want railroad maps for spicfic locations check out this web page:
http://www.steam-powered-video.co.uk/atlases.shtml

Go to railroad Atlas section you can order a book that cover 3 to 4 states covering every railroad past and presant. Every little village, town, city, and flag stop are marked.

"In actuality the western track line (when looking down from above) is the one I assume is the Clinchfeild, and is gone, and the eastern track is the Southern which still exists. "

According to P.21 (Asheville Map) of the SPV Railroad Atlas of North America (Appalachia/Piedmont), the abandoned line to the west was abandoned by the Southern RR. The active track east of SOU old track is owned by CSX (Former Clinchfield). The SOU Track was abandoned from Marion - Glenwood - Mud Cut - Vein Mtn - Thermal City - Union Mills - Gilkey - Ruth - Rutherfordton. The Thermal Belt Railway (TBRY) operates a portion of the old SOU Route.
