Welcome, Ronal!

Are you talking about new equipment for the Jakarta-Bandung line, and do you have photos? I’m having some trouble understanding your English and I’m not fluent in bahasa Indonesia - sorry!

For other members, Indonesia made an agreement with China Railway Construction Company to build a new Jakarta-Bandung line. It’s supposed to be operational in 2019, so equipment ought to be arriving soon. https://www.smartrailworld.com/indonesi ... etion-date" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My go to place for keeping up with railroad/railway developments around the world is Skyscraper City. The site is mostly about tall building and the cities in which they're located. However cities with tall buildings need effective transportation systems and that's where rail comes in. Each country has a sub forum dedicated to rail. The English sub forum for Indonesia is located here -

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=801670" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The post about the new "Argo Parahyangan" train equipment is located here -

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost. ... tcount=567" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost. ... tcount=579" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As you can see the cars are indeed Stainless Steel which is pretty rare outside of North America.

The main site for Skyscraper City is here -

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The main railroad/railway forum in English is here -

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=812" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Every country generally has a railroad forum that's in it's native language. I use Google Chrome which has a "Translate to English" feature built right in.

Moderator Note: Not all of our members are from the USA, Canada, Britain or other places where English is a/the major language. Relax and don’t be petty, please. If you have a question about what they wrote, be courteous and ask about that specifically.

Thanks for posting, Ronal. We don’t get much news from Indonesia. Could you get a friend to help translate your posts? They are informative, but a little difficult to parse.

Through-booking of sleeper cars (if not whole trains) was common practice in the United States during the heydey of passenger rail.
This practice continues with the Texas Eagle - Sunset Limited transfer at San Antonio.

Philadelphia and many European cities through-run trains in their center cities to connect pairs of suburban rail lines.

I don't know for sure, but it would make sense for through-running to occur at Toronto, Seattle, and Los Angeles for the Corridor, Cascades, and Pacific Surfliner. Perhaps someone can answer about these.

The Pacific Surfliners do run through; they reverse direction in Los Angeles Union Station, a stub terminal. There are some that run only between LA and San Diego.
