First, surprised we haven't had discussion around here regarding any aspect of the Indiana Harbor Belt.

Now to point; only yesterday did I observe the physical interchange between BNSF and IHB at Congress Park (just E of La Grange). It looks badly deteriorating like it hasn't seen a train in quite some time.

It was always active back when I was with the MILW (49% owner).

I doubt if the traffic has "dried up" but rather rerouted. If the latter, how?

I was on a Blue Island transfer out of Cicero once. I think that only a few local cars might get interchanged at Congress Park now. Since Cicero became primarily intermodal, the number of cars is near nil. Most interchange is via the Santa Fe side. This is because trains from Galesburg can head directly into IHB, without a reverse move.
