Hi. I'm interested in learning about how many freight trains go through Reno Nevada per day. On line searches and other sources haven't yielded much useful data. I'm imagining the experts on this forum would have some pretty good guesses though! So, what I'm wondering is:
1. How many trains per day?
2. How many cars are in a train?
3. What percent of cars do you think contain hazardous materials, given that Reno is an important hub for transport of many chemicals like petroleum, etc.
If you have data, I'd love to know the source. If you have just an educated guess, that's totally welcome too.
I'm asking this because I'm helping some entities in the region think about certain aspects of their their disaster response strategy (of which train hazmat spills are one possible disaster).
Thanks!
