HONOLULU (KHON2) — Rail is full steam ahead for its summer opening. That’s according to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit and the Department of Transportation Services who updated the Honolulu City Council on Tuesday afternoon.

The embattled, and long-delayed $9.9 billion rail project is finally on track for the grand opening in July as HART Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina explained during a briefing with the Honolulu City Council’s transportation committee.

Route Map - Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation -- it will be the west half that will open, from the west end to Aloha Stadium on the east shore of Pearl Harbor. The two easternmost stations are to be built later.

By the summer of 2025, Blangiardi said the City is scheduled to provide ridership past Pearl Harbor and the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
That's two stations eastward.
“On day one we’ll connect rail riders from West Oahu with their destinations further east by meeting every train in Halawa, just 20 short minutes after it leaves Kapolei, with express bus service that takes riders Downtown and to the University of Hawaii Manoa,” Blangiardi explained.

The first segment is now open, and the system has been renamed Skyline. Watch history made: Skyline rail opens to the public | KHON2

Its Wikipedia article - Skyline (Honolulu) - Wikipedia - has its updated name.

It is now open between Kualaka‘i East Kapolei and Hālawa Aloha Stadium. The next phase is due to open in 2025, going to Kahauiki Middle Street, and the next one in 2031, going to Kuloloia Downtown. A later one would go to Kālia Ala Moana Center, completing the system.

On the name change, Honolulu's city-bus system is called TheBus (one word), so this system might have been called TheTrain (one word).
