I joined this forum years ago. Never really used it but I've become more interested in RRs over the years. I started collecting RR paper ephemera a couple years ago that would fit in binders so now I have at lest 500 different US RRs on some sort of paper in my binders. I'm thinking it's time to see if I can move some of my surplus papers and thought I might start by asking at a forum. So here I am.
Anyway, I found a paper dated 1917 that belonged to my grandfather. My father's family lived in Athens and my mother's in Sayre, Pa. People that lived there worked at one time or another for the LVRR or Ingersoll Rand. My Dad's Dad worked for the LVRR as a deputy sheriff. My Dad says he worked for a while protecting from "sabotage" pre-WWI.
I also found a stamped "LVRR" police baton with this paper and other papers from my grandfather. The baton has been in the attic for as long as I can remember and i am 71, so I am fairly certain that it would have been my grandfathers from when he worked as a RR cop?
I tried to sell it on ebay but they shut me down in a minute because I was trying to sell a "weapon". There's 1/2 million swords, knives, bows, ect. listed right now.
I didn't/ don't see it as a weapon but a piece of RR history. I was wondering if it might have some value to someone and what would be the best way to sell it? I would keep the paper for myself but would include a copy.

Being of the sentimental type, that sounds like something to keep in the family and hand down to your younger generations, but it is yours to do what you wish. If no one bites here, maybe try listing it again as a LVRR "Railroad Tire Thumper/Marching Band Baton", lol! If you still don't send it off, maybe donate it to a local RR museum or general history museum in your local LVRR area to keep your grandfather's name with it?
