GP40-MC Overhaul

Believe 1126 is a test unit for LED's,on older power,,the others can be retrofitted on a later date with LED's , after the test period ends.

1137 has received new traction motors, dynamic brakes, HEP, and a bunch of other mechanical components. It is still not finalized if it will be in MassDOT blue, but in quote from the assistant project manager down at Rochester, "People seem to like to blue paint on 1136 so we are hoping to do the same for 1137."

FYI 1139 is getting the same upgrades as 1126 did. There’s an insider video on YouTube supporting that answer. You can figure it out yourself because I’m not going to reveal the person’s name in consideration of privacy and job confidentiality. The only difference with 1139 compared to 1126 and 1120 is that it’s getting a new horn. Even though that isn’t really considered an upgrade, it’s interesting to discuss about that stuff. Does someone want to confirm if 1126 got repainted or not? I know 1120 didn’t receive much other than the internal upgrades and an ebell.

Looks like 1138 is next in line to get rebuilt in the house. More than likely the same upgrades that 1126 and 1139 are getting.

Well that’s interesting. Maybe getting rebuilt there as part of the contracted overhaul

1125 and 1138 are both in Rochester which I believe is getting rebuilt with the same upgrades that 1136-7 are getting. Will they all be blue? Or stay purple? That’s up in the air except for 1136 obv which has been a readville switched for a while now.

Any updates on 1139 and whatever else is being rebuilt? Last I heard it was getting led and other such upgrades like 1126 got.

Heard nothing, but I will say that with all the other work going on at Area 52 its probably slow-going. You have warranty work for the HSP46's, acceptance testing for the returning Kawsaki's and F40PH2/PHM-2C's and other miscellaneous work. Then there's other miscellaneous work going on. This weekend there is an extra out of Readville for Middleboro bringing four Kawasaki's (including a 900 series car and a control car) and picking up a HSP and five Kawasaki's (again - including a 900 series and two control cars.

1116 is the latest to get the in house job with everything above the chassis and behind the cab removed.

FYI 1139 is no longer listed as getting an overhaul in bet which is in shop. Has anyone recently seen that or 1126 on current sets? I would imagine 1139 is doubleheading unless they made it solo that quick.

The 1139 is out running north with F40. The 1139 got different trucks. They appear to be trucks from a screamer!

Do you know which F40 and set it is on if not taken off?

1631 has black squares around the ditch lights. Assuming it has something to do with the car body repair is it received
