I've got a bunch of my more interesting photos along with historical notes, in my Google+ feed. http://russnelson.com/+ . Oh, and my current profile photo shows me standing in front of the trolley bridge in Rochester that's east of Lee Road and north of the Fall Road bridge, both over the NYS Barge Canal (not to be confused with the Rochester Subway Canal).

FLICKR has recently raised it's limit from 200 photos to ONE Terabyte. My other account is at Photobucket, but I will start using my Flickr account again.

Hello, Railroad.net, I'm GojiMet86. I specialize in New York City Transit, mostly buses and trains (mostly buses these days). This is also my first post on this forum. Some might recognize me from nyctransitforums.com.

I hope I can learn more about the big railroads in my time here.

This is an awesome thread--I love the idea of a centralized place to share railroad photos. Some of the pictures here have unbelievable quality and impressive descriptions with metadata. I'd like to share a couple of photo collections I've been curating:

Living with the Railroads is a project through Historypin.com
http://www.historypin.com/project/42-railroads/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here is the channel I've used to contribute photos:
http://www.historypin.com/channels/view/52057/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm a researcher with Stanford University's Spatial History Lab, and I'm launching an open call for participation on the Living with the Railroads project. If you can give permission for photos you shared to be posted online, please reply here or PM us at [email protected] for more info. All it takes is a google, twitter, or Facebook account to post on Historypin! We're hoping to create a digital archive that encapsulates a small slice from repositories around the country and around the internet, so Railroad.net could be a huge source of potential partnerships.

For your time-warping enjoyment, here's a link to the Alfred A. Hart photographs--with "railroad repeats" taken by Jesse White--on our Historypin channel:

Thanks for the great photographs, and happy travels!

Looks like I never got around to posting my site in this thread:

Jon Bell's (Mostly) Rail Transit Pages
http://www.jtbell.net/transit/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The main emphasis is streetcars (trams), light rail, and subways (metros), mostly electric.

I recently had to move it from its original location after 19 years. If you have any links to the old address:

web.presby.edu/~jtbell/transit/

please update them! The structure of the site is exactly the same as before, so you can update any links to internal pages by replacing 'web.presby.edu/~jtbell' with 'www.jtbell.net'.
