Also interesting to point out is that Metra is currently replacing the island platform used to access HC and Amtrak trains. Seems this project is now just a waste of money, as it will just be torn up. It will be intersting to see what happens to Joliet Union Station when this project is completed, as from how I understand it, all operations will be moved to the new buildings.

The new station won't be there for three years. If the platforms need replacing they need replacing. It is already funded and contracted and will get a few year's use.

I like the new scale down version of the station better then the earlier plans, but whats going to happen to UD, will it still be there(relocated) or will it be taken over by the dispatcher from either metra or BNSF.

From what I've read in the past, control will be handed over to BNSF as Metra (RI) will no longer cross the diamonds... looks like the tower will come down if the latest version sticks.
