Hello everyone. Please enjoy these pictures. I was out railfanning in South Jersey and decided to stop by Tioga Marine terminal today and saw this rail car. I know this doesnt belong in this forum but I figured it would get more exposure in here and someone would know what it is. It looks very similar to the JFK airtrain but I tried to google the name and I couldnt find anything. Please enjoy and if anyone knows then please let us know......Thanks

Ahhh interesting. I was originally going to post it in that forum and I even scrolled and I guess my tired eyes couldnt focus on it. I must admit I got an answer back very quickly. Hey Aem7 dont laugh but when I first was driving down Delaware avenue and I started to see that, I thought it was a new SLV. How could I have made that mistake? Ohh wait, because they all look like subway cars.

The three SL5 pilot cars (completely built in S. Korea) should show up in June 2009 for testing.

The EverLine Rapid Transit System will be a fully automated 18.5-kilometre rapid transit system in the city of Yongin, South Korea connecting the Everland amusement park to the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The new line will serve 15 stations. The mostly elevated system will use Bombardier Advanced Rapid Transit vehicles controlled by Bombardier CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology.

In July 2004, the City of Yongin awarded the contract for the line to Yongin LRT Consortium, of which Bombardier Transportation is the lead member.

Ground was broken for construction in November 2005.
This would seem to be similar to various automated systems in France, usually labelled VAL. The only one I have seen there is at Lille where there is a two line system. Trains have no drivers. Stations have sliding doors on the platform so that people cannot step on to the track, even by accident. I rode on one line of the Lille system and it seemed satisfactory. Part was underground and part was on an elevated outdoor structure.

At Lille there is a metre gauge tram system that covers some of the same routes as the VAL metro.

where were they built? I think Bombardier has a plant in Vermont, but I wouldn't expect any buy Yankee provisions in an order of cars for Korea.
In any event is this a testament to the viability of Philly's port that they're shipping Vermont or Quebec to Korea via Philly, instead of out the St Lawrence River or via Boston or New York?

I'm guessing the boat's gonna go through the Panama canal. Is this then a testament against the west coast, or rail freight in general, that they didn't ship via Vancouver, etc... to Korea.
I wonder if the entire fleet's going this way.

The Yongin LRT has been commercially named Yongin Everline after Everland Amusement Park, which is the last station on the route
Made by Bombardier in Toronto.
