FREIGHT ON THE NEW HAVEN MAIN LINE

I saw a freight train going south tonight through Bridgeport on the main line. I did not see the power, but what train was this? The train's consist was hoppers (GATX).

Providence & Worchester CHFP or CT-2 heading to freshpond (LI) or Danbury with Agregate for blacktop plant.

Had you been geeking out at Star Wars in Concert at Harbor Yard? It's okay to admit it, I was there too. I also saw the train on my way out of the arena. It was CHFP, very long lots of GATX hoppers. CT-2 probably went by a little earlier in the evening and would have had engine on both ends of the train.

Probably came back empty as FPCH earlier today

Sounds more like CHFP

This Afternoon I got a Surprise at the New Rochelle Train Station as I was coming from the Bus Station to checked out a Beeline bus Route Schedule I heard a horn and it was the P&W Train he was headed eastbound at 1:45 PM.

Drat... haven't caught the P&W since September, and I'm traveling the New Haven tomorro1 >_< ... I don't railfan very much during the Sept - Dec, and Late Jan - May months 'cause of college [and the workload for a Comp Sci major), but over the summer I've been lucky enough to see it a few times... always when I least expect it [or when the P&W is not on my "I hope to see" list].

They're running stone in the winter?? Thought this shut down every year in late November and resumed again in spring.

The Train had (GATX) cars.

Nice handoff! I caught same train in Stratford, nice n smoky coming up the rise.

CT-2 does not go to Fresh Pond. Only FPCH/CHFP does. CT-2 is the Danbury visitor.
