Hourly Weekend Service?

Post by chrsjrcj » Wed Dec 05, 2012 4:43 pm

Was just on Tri-Rail's website, and found this service advisory:

Tri-Rail passengers should anticipate delays on the weekends, for the remainder of 2012, due to scheduled maintenance work on road crossings. The work is necessary to allow Tri-Rail to implement an hourly schedule on the weekends, beginning on or about March 2, 2013. The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, which operates Tri-Rail, currently runs trains every two hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

For additional information or service updates, call Customer Service at 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245) or log onto www.tri-rail.com. Customer Service hours on the weekend and holidays are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If I'm understanding correctly, that's a doubling of weekend service?

The change to hourly service was promised to happen this fall, now next spring, let's see what happens next. Promises, promises and more promises.

They already run weekdays more frequently than hourly, so what improvements do they need to make in order to run weekends hourly?

Good question. The 2 pm southbound from Mangonia Park was 15 minutes into Lake Worth today. I might ride the full route tomorrow or next weekend to see what's up.

Hourly Weekend Service Begins March 2nd!

TRI-RAIL EXPANDED WEEKEND SCHEDULE CHANGE

Starting on March 2, 2013, Tri-Rail weekend service is expanding from 16 to 30 trains, to improve
frequency to hourly service on weekends and holidays, including service later into the evening.

Schedule adjustments were also made on weekday trains P616, P637 and P640, to allow for
better on-time performance.

The new schedule can be viewed by clicking here. We hope you enjoy our expanded service.
