Almost all rail-trail's in the state do NOT allow motorized use. This one is an exception being managed by a club known as "Snow Shoe Rails to Trails" last year they had over 3,200 members, who do pay to have a usage permit for the trail. The people who come to this trail to ride bring money into the area and when they have events (like the dinner coming up this weekend) the place will be packed with people, hotels booked, and so forth.
This re-activation would be a huge loss for the community, they are proposing a huge landfill, quarry, and an ethanol plant. That would ruin the the forests and scenery of the area forever. I live near a landfill, even from where I am at, sometimes the smell of goes for miles.
