I heard a rumor that there were 3 FL-9's lined up in the Terminal today, including NYC painted 2012.

I am told that at least one railfan was there taking pictures.

Anybody telling?

2012, 2011 and 2027 were all on Track 39, coupled elephant style, all facing south. Most likely these engines are headed for Branch service... most likely on the Danbury... and 2012 will shuttle the crew back to Harmon. That's my guess.

So MNCRRplans on keeping them for revenue service? or as back-up power in the event of shortage of loco's or for work train service?

Metro north/CDOT still has 8 Fl9's and 3 F10's in service.
they are used for the 4 shuttle trains (Waterbury - 2x Danbury - Harlem) plus they are used in pairs for equipment shuttles betwen Harmon and outlaying points. the do not trun them on Revenue trains entering GCT.
one F unit is usualy standby for wiretrain in Stamford.
