Hello - I live in San Antonio, Texas, so have very little first-hand knowledge of FEC, especially it's steam days. I'm reading a book about the three passenger trains that ran from Chicago to Miami, the 'City of Miami,' the 'South Wind,' and the 'Dixie Flagler,' each over a different route. I understand each ran every third day, so there was a train each day. The book states that in steam days, the 30s & 40s anyway, several of the railroads involved in these trains streamlined a few of their locomotives especially for them. It mentions and shows photos of the C&EI, L&N, PRR, AB&C, & ACL steamers, but there is no mention of what type steamer was used on the FEC to get these trains from Jacksonville to Miami. 4-6-2s, 4-8-2s, ??? Streamlined? Anyone have any info? Anything you can provide will be greatly appreciated, as it will fill in some of the blank spots for me. Thank you very much.

I will answer you in the same way that I have answered other questions
about the FEC of years ago, your best bet is to buy the Book "Speedway
to Sunshine" by Seth Bramson which is widely available at book stores
and hobby shops. This interesting book was reprinted two or three years
ago after the earlier press run ran out years ago and the book before the
reprint was hard to come by and very expensive.
I suspect that if you buy this book, you will find the information that you
are looking for and a lot more besides.

I had looked for books on early FEC, but didn't find much, at least not this book. Now I know why, FEC isn't in the title! I'll look for the book this weekend. Thank you very much.

Mr. Weaver - I couldn't locate a copy of Speedway to Sunshine locally - in South Texas - so I ordered a copy through Amazon.com this weekend. Thanks again for the lead, I look forward to receiving my copy and reading it.
