I saw on the History Channel's Modern Marvels program a show about the Overseas Highway in the Florida Keys, which was built upon the FEC's former right of way to Key West. Very interesting, to say the least.

All of the old Florida East Coast Railroad bridges enroute to Key West are
no longer in use except for a portion of the bridge linking Pigeon Key to
the present day overseas highway (US-1).
Today, we can drive down to the keys and really appreciate the cost in
both lives and money to build this railroad.
Some of the bridges look solid enough for a train to run over them today
while others look "different" because of the alterations that took place
when they were converted for highway use.
With the exception of the bridges, there is almost nothing remaining from
the railroad.

Noel,

Yep, you are right. But, don't forget photos and memories!

However, I'm curious about what happened to the depots at Key West and Key Largo?

As I recall, neither of these buildings were substantially affected by the Hurricane. Do either survive in some other use?

I don't know what the situation is in Key Largo. The former FEC property
in Key West is now U.S. Navy property and is not accessible to the public.
