Wasn't it 610 after it started on fire?

My records indicate that the first retirements were:

610
605
612
607
609

I'll hopefully post the entire list in the correct topic soon.

610 was not the first.

Nope. In the end, we were down too 614, 611, 610, 602, and 601. 602 was retired. Then 610 blew up. 601 was then retired. 611 was retired along with 614 after that.

MetraF40C607, your order is not correct either. Didn't 610 blow up sometime around late November or early December 2003? I clearly remember (and have photographic proof of) 601, 602, 603 and 604 running after that. I know there were a few other "C's" running in December that I wasn't able to shoot before retirement. According to my slides, though, 604 was running at least through the beginning of January 2004 and 601 was running at least through the end of that month. The last shots I have of 602 and 603 are both from the end of February 2004. After then, I believe only 611 and 614 were running until near the end of July 2004.

I think 602 and/or 603 were retired sometime in the middle of March 2004, because I remember a post about one of them being retired on this forum, not the old one, and this forum was created sometime around March 11, 2004. Too bad we don't still have those early posts to refer to.

611 and 614 are stored active right?

  by MikeF

They aren't active, but 611 and 614 are stored serviceable.

I Photographed 602 sometime in Janauary of 2004.

  by MetraF40C607

Well, from what i observed, that's how they went out. All I know for sure is that in the end, 601 went followed by 611 and 614.

  by MikeF

That may have been your observation, but it wasn't accurate. After 601 was retired, 602 and 603 remained in service for at least a month.

I believe it was either 602 or 603, in early March 2004. Maybe someone else has more details.
