Does anyone have a list or know where I can find a list of the engine names? I know they are painted on the side of the engines such as "City of Park Ridge" 134. And do the new engines have these names too?

Since that is my site, I'll chime in here. I really should update the site, I haven't touched it in about 4 years. Anyway, most of the locomotive names on the site are accurate. The ones that have changed are as follows:

162 is now Village of Elburn
189 is now Village of Villa Park
214 no longer has a name on it
401 is now Oliver "Ollie" Tibbles

#214 should be named for the Village of La Grange ... pretty sure that was the last EMD locomotive entirely assembled there.

Thanks for the help. That was the exact site I was looking for. I have used it before but had trouble finding it again. Thanks for creating the great site MetraPace!

"The story behind this engine is simply heart warming. Oliver Tibbles was a very young railfan that lost his life far too soon. He loved the Metra trains that ran near his house. The railroad named an engine after him, his mother would have to take in the honor as he passed before the engine was named."

"Oliver “Ollie” Tibbles loved trains. He was totally fascinated by trains and, a few years ago, had the opportunity to ride in the cab of a Metra train from Union Station, Chicago, to Downers Grove, IL. Sadly, Ollie died of a brain tumor in March 2004 at the age of 7.

Last Saturday Metra announced it named a locomotive for Ollie. While Metra locomotives have been named for cities and towns, this is the first time a locomotive has been named for a child."
